Commonly Used Drugs

Chemotherapy

  • Chemotherapeutic agents have, to date, not been too successful as adjuvants to surgical or radiotherapeutic treatment. Partial responses have been noted with single agent methotrexate, adriamycin, 5-FU, cytoxan, mitomycin C and cisplatin.
  • Intravesical chemotherapy has been shown to reduce recurrences
  • Thio-TEPA
  • Doxorubicin
  • Mitomycin C

Combinations

  • M-VAC (methotrexate, vinblastine, doxorubicin, cisplatin)
  • MCV (methotrexate, cisplatin, vinblastine) (under clinical evaluation)

Hormones (not useful for treating bladder cancer)

Biological Response Modifiers

  • BCG (bacillus Calmette-Guerin)
  • Alpha interferon 2B (intravesical)
  • Granulocytic colony stimulating factor (G-CSF)
