The first cancer-directed therapy (treatment given in an attempt to destroy or modify cancer tissue) was radiation.
No surgical procedure of primary site. Do not record a stereotactic radiosurgery procedure (such as gamma knife) as surgical tumor destruction. It should be recorded in the radiation treatment item.
Code the most extensive surgery if the patient has multiple surgical procedures of the primary site.
Surgery of the primary site was not performed because it was not part of the planned first-course treatment.
