Physical Exam

The patient is a 63-year-old male with normal physical exam. Digital rectal exam showed a 1+ enlarged prostate with normal seminal vesicles.

CT Scan of abdomen and pelvis showed no metastatic disease.

SMA 20: within normal limits

PSA elevated at 14.6

Surgical Observations

US guided sextant biopsy of the prostate.

Pathological Report

9/3/04

Left apex: adenocarcinoma, moderately differentiated (estimated Gleason’s score 3+2=5/10). Maximum linear extent in apex of tumor was 6 mm. Left mid region prostate: mod-diff adenocarcinoma, Gleason’s 3=2=5/10. Left base, right apex, right mid-region and right base: negative for tumor.

Treatment

Patient opted for interstitial prostatic implants of I-125 which were performed as an outpatient.
