  1. Alternative therapy is also known as unconventional, nontraditional, or unproven therapy.
  2. Unconventional therapies not only can cure, but also have been held to the same standards of proof of safety and effectiveness as have the conventional drugs and treatments prescribed by physicians.
  3. Alternative therapies are dismissed as "quackery" and there are no cancer doctors and scientists who think they are worthy of serious study.
  4. The patient does not know if he/she is receiving the actual drug or a placebo in a blinded clinical trial.
  5. The placebo effect cannot be measured so the study involving a placebo will not yield any significant results.
  6. Some people believe the placebo effect is psychological, due to either a real effect caused by belief or to a subjective delusion.
