Core follow-up data items for the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons approved cancer programs are listed in the table below. The Standards of the Commission on Cancer, Vol. II: Registry Operations and Data Standards (ROADS) lists codes for these data items. The quality of survival is an optional field that is coded for the patient's status at the last contact. Quality of survival reflects the patient's general status, not just cancer-related disabilities.
Most often, the Karnofsky Scale or the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) Performance Status is used to record the physical status of patients.
Required Data-Set Items, Follow-up Data

- Subsequent treatment
Population-based cancer registries usually collect all or some of the CoC's required follow-up data set fields. Additionally these registries collect cause of death.
