Testicular Cancer Treatment

Radical orchiectomy:

Complete removal of one or both testicles and spermatic cords either as a diagnostic procedure or as treatment for low stage carcinoma of the testicle. This procedure is surgery code 30. Also called: transinguinal orchiectomy.

Retroperitoneal lymph node dissection:

Total removal of all lymph node chains in the retroperitoneum as a staging procedure. A possible complication of this procedure is damage to or removal of the sympathetic ganglia, which enables ejaculation. Also called RPL.
