Abstracting Treatment

What is Reportable?

Part of abstracting a case is documenting treatment given at that facility or noted in the record.

Standard setters require treatment be collected on all reportable cancer cases. When available, treatment information should be documented in the abstract.

This information includes

• Surgical procedures of primary site, lymph nodes, and distant sites
• Chemotherapy
• Immunotherapy
• Hormonal therapy
• Hematologic transplant and Endocrine Procedures
• Radiation
• Other
