Full body examination, skin examination, total number of nevi present, change in an existing mole regarding asymmetry, border irregularity, color, diameter, elevation, surface changes (erosion, oozing, bleeding or ulceration), changes in the surrounding skin (reddening, swelling, satellite pigmentations), sensation (itching, burning, pain), consistency (softening, friability), laterality, serial photography, computerized image analysis, examination of all lymph node groups, size and number of palpable lymph nodes
