Solid Tumor Rules

Determining multiple primaries for urinary sites differs from other site rules. Bladder tumors tend to be multifocal and may include more than one urinary site. Non-invasive urinary primaries are followed with routine TURBs and may have new tumors over the course of the routine follow up exams. It is important to refer to the Solid Tumor Urinary Sites module to determine if there are single or multiple primaries.

The Urinary Solid Tumor rules should be used to assign histology for urinary primaries. The majority of urinary primaries are urothelial carcinoma and subtypes of urothelial carcinoma. Some tumors may have more than one histology present, and the rules will direct you to the appropriate histology code.
