Mixed or combined small cell is a synonym for large cell-small cell carcinoma.
Sarcomatoid squamous is a synonym for spindle cell.
Papillary urothelial is a synonym for papillary transitional.
Primary cutaneous neuroendocrine is the old Merkel cell.
Diffuse sclerosing papillary carcinoma is also called non-encapsulated sclerosing carcinoma.
Stromal sarcoma has been split out from endometrial stromal sarcoma.
Low grade endometrial stromal sarcoma was formerly stromal myosis and other /1 terms, and is now /3.
PPNET is peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumor; CPNET is central primitive neuroectodermal tumor. Just plain PNET defaults to the CNS site code.
MPNST (malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor) used to be called neurofibrosarcoma.
Mantle cell was formerly called mantle zone.
Anaplastic large B-cell lymphoma used to be diffuse large cell lymphoma and now has 29 synonyms.
Follicular lymphoma is now the preferred name for follicle center cell lymphoma. The grades do not reflect aggressiveness, but rather types: formerly grade 2 was mixed small cleaved and large cell, grade 1 was small cleaved cell, and grade 3 was large cell noncleaved. They are out of numerical code order because the synonyms were applied to existing codes.
Mature T-cell lymphoma was called peripheral T-cell lymphoma.
