Lab Tests

Liver Function Tests are a series of blood chemistry tests measuring enzymes excreted by the liver during abnormal functioning due to metastases, obstruction or other conditions. Also called: liver panel. An elevated liver function test is a sign of possible liver damage.

Examples include: prothrombin time (PT), partial thromboplastin time (PTT), serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT), serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT), gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), alkaline phosphatase and serum albumin.
