Surgical Procedure Comments
Local tumor excision These include procedures where the surgery is for less one lobe
Resection of lobe Removal of a lobe, in its entirety or only a portion. Commonly described as lobectomy but may also be known as partial pneumonectomy
Extended resection of lobe Lobe resection where parts of the chest wall, pericardium, or diaphragm may be removed
Pneumonectomy Removal of the entire lung
Extended pneumonectomy Removal of the entire lung along with one or more of the following structures: superior vena cava, carina, left atrium, aorta, chest wall
