| Surgical Procedure | Comments |
|---|---|
| Local tumor excision | These include procedures where the surgery is for less one lobe |
| Resection of lobe | Removal of a lobe, in its entirety or only a portion. Commonly described as lobectomy but may also be known as partial pneumonectomy |
| Extended resection of lobe | Lobe resection where parts of the chest wall, pericardium, or diaphragm may be removed |
| Pneumonectomy | Removal of the entire lung |
| Extended pneumonectomy | Removal of the entire lung along with one or more of the following structures: superior vena cava, carina, left atrium, aorta, chest wall |
